HotStart Warranty Claim
All HotStart Kilns come with a 2 year limited warranty which covers most parts and labor. It is our hope that you will never experience problems with your kiln. However, if you do, it is our goal to get you up and going as soon as possible. The following is a list of guidelines for processing your claim.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
Our 50 years of experience working with customers to solve kiln problems has given us some helpful insight on how to solve problems most efficiently. We have found that the majority of kiln problems fall into 3 categories: A Misunderstanding of General Firing Principles, Errors in Programing, and Problems With The Kiln.

A Misunderstanding of General Firing Principles
When beginning a new hobby there is always a learning curve and there are bound to be some mistakes made. Often times problems associated with the kiln are actually a result of a lack of understanding of working with glass. For example, someone may assume that the kiln is firing too hot when the problem is actually due to a hold time which is to long.
Be sure to read the General Firing principles and Glass Fusing 101 Sections of your Hot Start Operating manual. The System96 website, www.system96.com, is also an excellent source of information.

Errors in Programing

We have made every effort to make programming the HotStart Kiln easy to understand and carry out. It is always a good idea to Review your programs if you are experiencing problems. This can easily be done by using the Review Feature on your controller.

Problems With The Kiln
Simple problems can often be identified, and sometimes resolved, by consulting the Troubleshooting Section of the Operating manual. This section identifies some of the most common problems people may experience and gives suggestions on what needs to be done. This information will be helpful to the technician when working on your claim. If you are unable to identify the problem, contact Skutt or your HotStart dealer for assistance.
Be sure to read the Warranty, which is printed at the bottom of this page, so you have a clear understanding as to what is covered.
HOW DO I SUBMIT A CLAIM?
We offer several choices for warranty claims. You may return the kiln to your HotStart Dealer for repair or, if you prefer, you may repair the kiln yourself. If you choose to have the work done by your HotStart dealer simply call them for an appointment to bring the kiln in for repair.
Since most repairs are fairly easy, many people may find it faster and more convenient to do the repairs themselves. We supply you with the parts which include detailed instructions for the repair. If you wish to go this route, fill out and submit the form below and a Skutt representative will contact you. If for some reason they are not able to reach you, you may contact them between the hours of 7:30AM and 5:00PM PST at (503) 774-6000.
